Alex's Graduation Cake
Alex’s was celebrating his graduation with two of his cousins (girls). They each chose fancy cakes for themselves and told me ”he doesn’t care what he gets. Just frost a cake for him”.
No way. I put his announcement with a tassel on a cake with his school colors. Not as fancy as theirs, but guys are not fancy.

Wedding favors have become increasingly popular over the years as more and more people want small keepsakes to remember special occasions by. The actual monetary ‘value’ of the gifts is relatively small now in comparison to our ancient Ancestors. Common favor include ribbons, candies, picture frames, personalized book marks, laminated plaques, candy, seed packets, pillows, balloons and potpourri.

The tradition of giving wedding favors is rooted in ancient European history. It was a ritual of common practice for wealthy aristocrats who were celebrating marriages, christenings, births and birthdays. The bride and groom would give small presents, now known as favors, to their guests and well-wishers to thank them for sharing the momentous occasion. Initially the favors were of great value, being made of expensive materials such as gold, silver, precious gems, porcelain or crystal with contents great value, most notably sugar. At that time, sugar was a very rare substance, prized for its suppose medicinal qualities.
I received a request to make a cake for the Knights of the Road MC Detroit. They wanted it to match the patch on their vests exactly and be the same size. Well, I took the challenge and this picture shows I did it. And it was butter-cream not fondant.

It is all in the position of the bar. After you, the bar will be the center of attention and activity. A square or round bar that’s not pushed against a wall will allow guests to be served from all sides, preventing long lines of antsy friends waiting to get a drink.
Don’t put the bar near food stations, doorways, or other high-traffic areas. If you are having a full bar you will need to hire one bartender for every 50 guests.. If you are serving only beer and wine you will only need one bartender for every 75 guests.

I had so much fun making this Eiffel Tower. It was a late order, so ended up finishing it in the refrig. 83 degrees outside with 75% humity, no air conditioning.

After listening to a church sermon at Spokane’s Central Methodist Episcopal Church in 1909 about the newly recognized Mother’s Day, Dodd felt strongly that fatherhood needed recognition, as well. She wanted a celebration that honored fathers like her own father, William Smart, a Civil War veteran who was left to raise his family alone when his wife died giving birth to their sixth child.
